Okay friends…I’ve been a little radio silent on the blog lately…and social media. The new school year and travel has thrown off my routine a bit. I’m hoping to get back to regularity in my writing routine after I return from the American Christian Fiction Writers Conference. This year is my second year attending conference, and I can’t wait for a few days to immerse myself in the writing world.
So this post is part of a fun little mixer hosted by Laurie Tomlinson in order for conference goers to connect a little before we arrive. Thanks Laurie for making this happen!
Here’s how to play:
– Copy/paste the questions and fill out your own answers in a post on your own website and paste the URL to that specific post (not your homepage) using the handy link-up tool on Laurie’s page. Just click on the button at the bottom of her original post that says “Add your link”. If you don’t have a website, feel free to answer the questions in her comments!
– Make sure to link back to Laurie’s post after you fill out your answers so any of your readers who are conference attendees can participate, too! The more, the merrier.
– Click through the links on her page to get to know other conference attendees!
Here are my answers!
Name: Amanda Cox
Location: Chattanooga, TN
What you write/tagline/trademark: I write stories that dig into the intricacies of our connection with God and with one another.
Place in the book world: Unpublished with a couple projects looking for their publishing home
On a scale of hugger to 10-foot-pole, please rate your personal space: Uhh…. Well if you are a hugger I’m game. But I am not a hug initiator…nope….
Something VERY serious: How do you take your Starbucks? All the coffee. Anywhere. Any kind. But I do have a special fondness for the seasonal Caramel Brûlée Latte 🙂
The unique talking points that will get you going for hours: Kids, pets, Character arcs. Honestly, I’m not a big talker, but I could listen to other people all day. (Unless I know you really well, in which case I can have a tendency to never shut up….I don’t talk to adults that often…so….)
Loved ones at home you’ll be missing: My husband and three kids (ages 2,4, and 6). My sweet senior golden retriever and our new addition, a bengal kitten.
Conference goals we can pray for? Making new connections with writer friends. Boldness. A creativity renewal. I just feel a need for fresh life to be breathed into my writing life.
Anything we can celebrate with you? Since conference last year, I’ve completed a novel that had been bouncing around in my mind. Looking forward for the opportunity to pitch it this year :). Mostly because I just love talking about this story :D.
One or two ways we can help you build your platform? You can like my author page on Facebook, and/or follow me on Twitter.
I hope to meet you all in Dallas next week!
It’s your turn! Don’t forget to go back to Laurie’s page to post your blog link when you’re done!
Get ready for a hug, because I’m so excited to be rooming together! And amen on the creativity renewal!

I’m excited too! Last year I went as a loner, and met people along the way. Which was fun in its own terrifying way ;). Looking forward to going and knowing a few people this year!!

I should come join you all! I’ve contemplated it, but haven’t made the leap yet. I really would enjoy having face-to-face time with other writers. I hope we get a chance to meet up while in Texas!

I’m not a big talker either, so we could sit and listen to crickets chirp together if you want. 😉

Ha, ha! Sounds great! And if we tire of the crickets we can scout out a group of extroverts to adopt us 😉

It’s nice to meet you, Amanda! Congrats on finishing your novel. I love the caramel lattes at Starbucks, and now you’ve got me wondering what a Caramel Brulee is. 🙂 I hope I see you in Grapevine.

The caramel brûlée has vanilla and caramel flavors with the taste of the the caramelized sugar you get on a creme brûlée :D. Yum! They normally have it around Christmas time. Hope to see you in TX!!
