Back Cover Blurb:
Alexis Blake has one chance to land her own show on the Home Project Network and nothing, not an uncooperative client, a job site without indoor plumbing, or a challenging videographer, is going to stand in her way. Elsie, at seventy-plus, is far from the ideal client, but she knows exactly what she wants her fieldstone house to look like, and no designer can tell her otherwise. Gabe Langley, the man with the camera, is caught in the middle and it is his wisdom and warmth that just may be the bridge that will bring these two women together. Can they restore more than just a house and bring about special, almost lost forever Christmas memories?

My Review:
Christmas themed stories and novellas are not my go-to books of choice. I prefer to settle down with a nice long-winded novel. But Cynthia Ruchti is one of my favorite Christian authors, so I had to give this one a try. She writes authentic characters who feel like people I would meet on the street. She doesn’t shy away from complex issues, and allows her characters to wrestle through conflicted emotions.

This short novel flowed with the grace of a longer novel.

I laughed. My heart was touched. I felt like I was swept up into the wonder of the Christmas season even though I started reading this story at the end of October in the midst of an warmer than normal autumn, drought, and wildfires.

It was such a fun read. Those of you who love watching HGTV and the restoration of old homes will love this novel. From the start everything that could go wrong, goes wrong. A misunderstanding. A homeowner that doesn’t want the remodel in the first place. A young woman who watches her shot at launching her career go out the window. She set out to restore a home, but in the midst discovers an opportunity to restore a life.

Maybe your Christmas memories are filled with ache instead of joy. Read Cynthia Ruchti’s novel and discover hope for having your Christmas restored. Check out her Facebook page to hear more stories about restored Christmases.
